Central Utah Water Conservancy District (CUWCD) collects fresh water at Bridal Veil Falls that comes from the mountains above. The water from this area contributes to the safe, clean, and reliable water supply for the people along the Wasatch Front. To improve the flow to the Bridal Veil Falls pond, next to the Provo River Trail, CUWCD is removing an old pipe and structure at the lower plunge pool. This will allow water to flow all the way down to the pond. From there, the water will be piped under the Provo River and pumped into CUWCD's water system.
Bridal Veil Falls is a favorite destination for families and outdoor enthusiasts of all types. In addition, Bridal Veil Falls is an important water source that provides water year-round. It can provide enough water every year for over 15,000 people.
The pump station and pipeline will be constructed from July to December 2021. During the summer and early fall, only the lower parking lot across from the falls will be impacted. That will allow continual public access to the river, trail, pond, and falls. From October through December, the trail will be closed as crews clean up the pond area, construct a new intake structure, and install the pipe across the river. The goal of this important project is to improve Bridal Veils Falls as a recreational destination and as a reliable water source.
